I took a break from dyeing on Friday to venture out and pick up Cookie's new book. The designs are just beautiful and it definitely does not disappoint. It's a great mix of instruction, advice, and sock patterns. Although I can count the number of socks I've actually completed on one hand, I have grand plans for many more and can say for sure that most on my to-knit list are Cookie's. I've already cast on for the first sock in the book but haven't made it much past the ribbing. Hopefully I'll have some progress to show soon.As far as the giveaway... I picked up an extra copy and want to pass it along, along with a skein of our merino sock in "zesty". All you have to do is leave a comment to this post (one per person, please) and I will select a random winner. I'd love to know what your plans are for the spring/summer or you can just say hi :).
If the winner already has the book, they can choose to just receive the yarn and let me find someone that does not yet have it or do so themselves. The winner will be chosen on Sunday April 12th at 8:00pm est so until then, comment away!

Oooh Zesty looks positively tangy and fresh! I don't have the book and would love to own a copy. :)
MEMEMEMEMEME (: My plans for this summer, is to knit lots of lovely things, with your yarns!
ME..ME..ME!
I can also count the pairs of socks I've made on one hand--but I have LOTS of sock yarn! I'd love the book (and, of course, YARN!).
I'd love the book and the yarn! I plan to spend the summer knitting socks with your lovely semi-solids from the summer club! ;)
I've only done monkey socks by Cookie and loved that pattern. I just went and looked at her book on Amazon and yes, I think it's definitely a must have....and with all of that semi-solid yarn coming to me in the next six months...perfect!
There are so many things I plan to do this summer! The saddest (and most imminent) is my return to full time work after my second maternity leave. Boo-hoo! I enjoyed every second of time at home with my boys and am sad to see it coming to an end. Of course, I will take advantage of uniterrupted lunch hour knitting (with no one pulling at the yarn or needles, imagine!)
Hope you have a great summer, too! thanks for sponsoring such a fun giveaway!
Zesty is an amazing color!
I have a copy on its way to me, but I wouldn't say no to new yarn. : )
This spring/summer I'll be starting a garden with my daughter, spending lots of outdoor time with our westie, Juno, and, of course, knitting socks! I'm anxious for long summer days, homemade rhubarb pie, a cute little gnome in the garden, firing up the grill for fresh, summer food, and MORE KNITTING!! Have a wonderful summer, Jessica. :o)
I love knitting socks and Cookie's book is definitely on my "must have" list :). My summer knit plans? A dress - but in crochet - and some light, lacy shawls. I suspect I'll wind up suntanning in the backyard more often though!
I'd love both the yarn and the book!
What a perfect combo to really get into spring! Thanks!!
Beautiful yarn! I plan to knit a lot of socks this spring.
That's a gorgeous yarn! And a book I'd love to get my hands on! I plan to branch out from knitting socks this summer, but sock yarn can be used for many other projects than socks!
I would love a chance to win the book and yarn!
My plans for this spring include knitting through some of my stash and moving to a new home!
I would love this book and yarn! My plans for spring and summer include grad school with knitting in any spare time I can get!
Oohhh, I would love it! My plans for Spring and Summer are to continue saving up to move back to my hometown in the Fall after 12 years of living all over the country!
My plans for spring and summer are to knit and read (oh, and work if I can find the time). Work sure does get in the way of life, doesn't it? Would love the book.
Ooh!Ooh!Ooh! Me!!!!
I'll be working on my house all summer. I hope to get some knitting in there somewhere!
I'll be getting in a lot of knitting these next few months, while my husband is undergoing chemo. I have one pair of socks OTN and just finished a pair, (my very first two pair of socks, so I need all the instructions I can get) and would love to have a chance at Cookie's book and the beautiful Zesty!!!
My plans for the spring / summer are to knit some non-socks. Of course, I'll always be knitting socks but I think some of the other stash needs to get worked on too. :)
Spring is my favorite season. I can't wait to get outside to knit and spin on the deck.
LOVE the new color! So pretty!
I plan on tossing myself on my couch and enjoying a Firefly marathon while I knit. Then I'll see.
Yay for yellow yarn! Perfect to brighten up a slow to start spring.
Summer plans are to take the dog hiking to as many places as possible. Backup plan is sit on the couch and knit in the air conditioning.
Ahh this spring and summer will be busy indeed, finishing up my last semester at college and we are going to renovate our house a bit, and turn the spare room into a nursery, a lot of work but a lot of fun too. Summers are always more productive for me.
I don't really have plans for the spring or summer yet. We're currently getting ready to move into a house (bf is in the process of buying on), so I imagine most of the spring and summer will be devoted to fixing up the house!
We'll be painting the outside of our house. Fun times. I think I need some new yarn and a sock book to distract me!
Zesty is gorgeous!!! And I'm hoping to win the book since I didn't get it for my birthday last week. I plan on thoroughly enjoying this summer especially knowing this will be my last summer so spend with my son before going back to work in the fall
my plans for the summer are to devote more time to crafts and my garden!
I'd love that book... almost picked it up yesterday but decided to wait until I'm ready to cast on for some socks.
Beautiful yarn! Summer plans include lots of work and lots of walks on the beach!
We are going to attempt to grow organic veggies and herbs in our back yard and actually cook with them! We already have lots of seedlings sitting under grow lights in the basement and I just love checking on them every day.
This is a major undertaking for us; with the exception of a few pots of flowers on the front porch, we haven't managed to keep much of anything alive. But we're determined to become a little more self-sufficient than we have been in the past (and save some money while we're at it!)
I would love to win this book and yarn. I peeked at the book at B&N a couple days ago. I want it, but I'm on a book buying diet. :( The yellow yarn is gorgeous. It is the perfect spring-into-summer color. I love it!
I clicked over here from Ravelry and look what's on top! I'm looking forward to the colors that will come with the warmer weather, especially on a gray, drab New England day like today.
Oh, I'd love it.
Now get back to dyeing, please!
Ooh, I'd love to win--what a treat it would be!
Oooh, the book & yarn looks wonderful!
We have quite a few plans for this summer. We want to take out kiddos to the zoo in Billings which of course means a trip to the LYS there. Hopefully my parents will be able to come up for a visit. There will definitely be lots of knitting. :)
MMMM, yellow! Keeping my fingers crossed.
I just love the happy hour sock club and I am so happy I signed up for the semi solids club---woohooo bring on the yarn
Sweet contest. This summer my husband and I are gonna do a bunch of much needed home repair (including a new bathroom and kitchen, knock on wood). In between freaking out about that I hope to knit lots, including some socks made from your summer club yarn. Yay for summer!
the yarn looks so beautiful and is making me look forward to summer. since friends are expecting, more baby blankets and baby knits coming up for me.
I've been wanting a copy of Cookie's book, but didn't realize it was out. I love her designs too. AS far as summer plans go, I can't wait to go to the beach in July!
Was just checking out your semi-solid sock club and saw the giveaway! One can never have too much sock yarn!
Oh what a cool contest! My plans for the spring/summer is to start back up on knitting socks.I want to sign up for the sock club but my blacberry browser is not cooperating, so I need to get to my laptop later and jump in.
Oh, my, your skein looks so lovely!
My summer plans include lots of time visiting family far away. And going to snuggle a friend's new baby.
Yay summer!
Love the zesty! So cheery. I am making a wrap out of Sangria right now and I plan to knit some socks with the spring summer yarntini club!
Ooohhh...it's so pretty. And I love the name, now I must look at all of the other colorways.
Hi--Summer plans? Nothing planned as of yet, except to continue knitting, of course ;)
Hopefully see my 5 y/o grandson more. He recently moved next door to 110 miles away. ugh. Crossing fingers :}
I have a summer of weddings ahead. Hopefully I'll get lots of knitting in.
Summer plans...knitting, knitting knitting. Socks are my current obsession.
Ohhh...love it!! Can't wait for summer :)
zesty is so pretty and perfect for spring!
Wow! Zesty looks like the perfect yarn to knit up a Cookie A pattern. I hope I win the book & yarn, so I can find out for myself!
I just ordered the book, and it's on its way to me, but that Zesty looks perfect to try some of the new designs! YUMMY!
Nice break for you!
I haven't got my hands on the book yet, but I absolutely will. It looks awesome.
Oh this is really generous of you. The book looks like it will be so good and the yarn is gorgeous of course!
oooooh .... i love that colorway!

spring and summer plans? starting a new job and hopefully buying a house! oh, and knitting lots of socks! I've got the book already, but I can't say no to more yarn...
I've been eyeing that book and I absolutely love Zesty! I love your bright summery colorways; I wish I could afford the club!
Thank you for running this contest! This is so sweet of you!
I have grand plans:
As always, I will knit myself silly....
Design more bags...
I'm going to continue to indulge my love of indie yarn artists....
Loving my 3 monkies....
Helping my mom go through chemo...yuck:(
I am running a booth at Stitches South for my bag patterns.....terrifying AND exciting all at once....
Its gardening time....so I will continue my never ending battle with Mr. Knotweed.......CURSE YOU KNOTWEED!
and I would love to win CookieA's new book and the zetsy Zesty.
Happy knitting to ALL!
I can't wait to get home from work in order to check this out further!!!
Ooooooh! Beautiful!
I love the yarn. I just hope that we actually have a spring and summer this year. I am wholly sick of cold, rain, and snow.
I plan on resting (I'm a 6th grade teacher, with an especially unruly bunch this year!), traveling a bit, and catching up on knitting. The yarn looks so much like lemonade it made me pucker! Such a nice thing you're doing.
I am truly in love with that yarn! Something about that pretty yellow color just makes me want to drink it up!!!
well, here's my comment! here's hoping!
My summer plans include enjoying the great outdoors more with my husband, baby girl, and dog. We haven't properly explored Oregon since we moved here 18 months ago. Also, looking forward to Sock Summit!
I'm from Australia, and we're jsut about to head into winter :) I've just got into lace work, and am currently in love with Ysolda Teague's Ishbel shawl......have done 2 and am planning numbers 3, 4, 5......LOL
I've been using my sock yarn (gasp!) for the shawls....and I can just see a gorgeous bright zesty Ishbel *wink.
and by golly....a copy of cookie's book might be just enough to get me to knit my second pair of socks!
So pretty and the book looks amazing. Please include me in the draw. Thanks!
I was just thinking I need some yellow sock yarn to brighten my spring!! Love your yarn I can not knit it up fast enough!!!
This summer I'd like to learn how to post comments correctly on the first try.
I <3 yellow and Cookie, so here's my comment. :D
Love that colorway. By the way -- I am thrilled to find another Pittsburgh syer. Yippee!
Oooh, the Zesty is just right for summer!
Oh for heaven's sake --- dyer. . .
Hi, Will you ever dye self-striping yarn again?
Daisy
The Zesty is beautiful!
Hi! I love the color of that yellow yarn! I linked to you through the Cookie A. KAL group on Ravelry. I'm planning on several pairs of socks and my first ever lace shawl to keep me occupied this spring and summer.
please pick me... ::puppy eyes::
pam
Plans for spring? Get better and start moving about again. That means less knitting but definately mor joy in life.
As for the knitting: I want to do more toe-up socks as I have just learned to do toe-up and want to explore that way of sock knitting. (so yeah, that book would come by handy :))
I also want to learn how to knit sweaters that fit. In other words I want to learn how to measure myself and how to use these measurements, how to deal with negative and positive ease and how to do the shaping.
It looks like your yarn and Cookie's patterns will go brilliantly together!
Ooh! I hope I'm the lucky winner!
We are putting our house on the market and trading up! Hopefully all will go smoothly!
Yum Cookie Designs and Yarntini!!!
Oh, yum. I'm normally not a yellow kind of girl, but whatever you put in your yellows makes me love them!
What a pretty yarn, I haven't gotten the book yet as the Chapters in Canada doesn't have it yet. I am holding my breath for it.
I work all summer, but when I am off, I plan to be at our cottage as much as humanly possibly, soaking up the sun and knitting lots of socks.
My plans for the summer include teaching my 2 year old grandson how to garden and knitting some things for his new brother or sister that will be born this fall. He sees my knitting basket and says "socks!", so I'm sure more socks will also be on my needles :)
Ooooooh!! Please count me in the tally. I am excited about the KAL. =:8
Jess,
I worship the ground you walk on. ok that sounded like a stalker...oops. but really i think i'm one of your biggest fans. Zesty is making my mouth water and i don't have that book...oh it would be so cool. You were so kind to me once and special made me a skein of your ss vintage...my dream yarn. :)
summer plans are going to scotland to visit my best friend who taught me to knit.
have a good one...
amy
Plans for the summer include watching my kids play outside while knitting socks from this book :)
Summer plans? Spend as much time out doors soaking up the sun. Take my baby and the dogs to the park. Work on making our yard look less trashy.
:)
This summer will be spent going to the lake, lazy days with my kids and knitting of course. :)
While I realize my chances are slim, I'd love to be the winner! Maybe luck will be on my side this time...
As for my Summer plans, well, I wish to introduce my one year old to the swimming pool.
Oh, and, since it will be too hot to knit sweaters for myself, I plan to get ahead on my knitting for my girls. Hopefully, I will have them all ready and decked out pretty come next Winter!
I'll probably spend this spring/ summer outside with my two boys (17 months and 3 1/2 years) playing, gardening and, of course, knitting socks when I get the chance!
Spring and Summer plans. hmmm.
Going to FL with some knitting friends and just hanging out. So fun to leave the husbands and kids home for some awesome knitting time.
I don't know that we have plans so much as we're expecting our first baby at the end of June. It will definitely be a special summer, and I've love to spend it with that book.
Absolutely love the Zesty ... love Cookie's new book, too!!!!!!!!!!!
My summer plans are all sleep related: to get my 2.5 yr old to sleep in a big boy bed, get my 7 month old to sleep through the night and for me to be able to sleep more than a few hours in a row..... Oh, and knit whenever the kids give me a chance to!
That is one beautiful yellow! WANT!
What a happy yarn! So cheerful!
Oh, I do love your yarns! I get it locally at Twisted here in PDX, and have designed two sock patterns with it (these were both your variegated sport).
Summer plans: Sock Summit!
Cheers,
Michele
OOOah, summer !!!! Is it ever going to get here !!!! :0)
We are building a new porch, so it would be wonderful to be curled up in my wicker chair on the new porch, siping lemmonade, reading Sock Innovations and using fun, zesty, lemmony yarn to knit socks !!!!
Thank you !!!!!
Barb :0)
I plan to spend my spring knitting furiously until MDSW then some cleaning and then more furious knitting until TNNA. :)
Oh this would mean so much to me. I'm a 22 year old knitter who is in love with knitting socks. I am in my senior year of college and will be graduating with hopes to be a kindergarten teacher. I've been working as an unpaid teacher for my internship for 30 hours a week not including my hour commute both ways, I work nights on top of my internship, some days are 7am to 8:30pm straight. So to top all that stress on my way home a car hit my car! The only thing that cheered me up was my two hour knitting class with my mom in which on of the women in the class introduced me to this book and as I'm searching the web I found your give away! I would just love this because it would really just cheer me up a lot, I feel in much need of a little pick me up. Thank you for the consideration, this truly is a nice thing to do.
Oh, what a pretty prize!
Spring plans? Spring cleaning (and stash organization)
Summer plans? Sock Summit, baby!
My plans for the spring/summer include kniting lots of socks. And maybe a shawl or two.
late to the party, but I'd love to get the book and the yarn.

This summer is going to be filled with a lot of home repair/re-design and tons of lace knitting!
I've only knit a few socks, myself, and I would like to knit more. I am attempting to knit Cookie A.'s Baudelaire. I find it to be challenging, but I am determined to finish it! I love that Zesty color! And I wouldn't mind having the new Cookie A. book!:)
I love that Zetsy color way! Plans for the summer include knitting a lot of Cookie A socks & baby things, as I'll be meeting my first (and probably only) nephew due in August.
Hopefully, I'll be able to find a job and go to lots of concerts, and knit in the warm sun.
ooh ooh me! I love that yellow yarn!
Ooooh! pick me
This zesty would look marvelous as a pair of Cookie socks. Her patterns are not for the faint of heart, nor for varigated yarns. yarntini+cookie=delicious
Summer plans include working hiney off, having abdominal surgery, recovering quickly, working hiney off ;) Hoping to finish some socks in there, but don't want a long recoup so hoping to finish socks at night after work.
Have a great summer.
Oh my, "zesty" certainly is just that. It looks like summer fruit and almost has my mouth watering. I can imagine it would make any of Cookie A's socks even better.
I don't have a copy or any of you yarn, I would love to try both, just like everyone else. :)
Have the book (it is fab) but would love to get my hands on that yummy yarn-- perfect for the Sunshine pattern IMHO :)
That Zesty looks perfect for spring! Reminds me of daffodils!
I just spotted your ad on the Ysolda-group pn Ravelry and went to check out your sock club.
My plans for the spring/summer is to start working full time (I'm on a break from studying), and I'm really looking forward to it. Spring weather is beautiful here in Copenhagen at the moment!
That yarn is beautiful! And I'd love to have Cookie's book. Please enter me in the drawing.
Thanks!
How lovely. . . . Spring is unfortunately deadline season for us at work, so the whole planet-reawakening thing seems to go whooshing by. I miss being able to sit back and enjoy the mild weather and flowering trees.
As for summer, the humidity and boiling heat make it unpleasant to go anywhere or do anything outside until dusk, but at least things will slow down a bit. I may even take some time off, though probably I'll just putter around the flat -- vet bills and car repair have made me too poor for the moment to go anywhere interesting. Staying home is good, too, though. :-)
I love the colorway, it's so vibrant!!! And of course, I'd love to have the book. Thanks!
Oh my God! Are you kidding me? I am so in this contest. Thanks, whether I win or not.
Got so excited I forgot to add my plans for this spring/summer.
1. Spin up all the roving I was gifted and the one I bought.
2. Finish a lace stole, 2 pairs of socks, maybe 3, and other small projects I have going on.
3. Start dyeing yarns.
Those are my crafting goals. I also intend to take a few classes.
My spring/summer knitting plans are to try to finish the projects for other people, and make some socks for myself.
Thanks for sharing with your readers!
Lisa in Toronto
Your yarn is just beautiful! I'll keep my fingers crossed and maybe I'll get lucky. ;)
Hi there - I just discovered your blog after an enabling friend pointed me in the direction of your semi-solid sock club. Oh-so-tempting! So maybe, I'll be knitting with some of those semi-solids this summer?? :)
Me pleeeeese! Yellow socks are my favorite!
Enjoy the time spent with friends and family all summer long, and knit of course! Maybe a short jaunt up to Vermont again...maybe, that was a LONG drive with the kids, we'll see!
Hello. Your yarn is gorgeous!!
Oooohhh, I love the zesty. That would make a great summer knit. It's sooo summery.
I'm drooling all over that yellow yarn, and I can hardly wait to get a copy of Cookie A's book!
OOO, I would love to be entered! What a fantastic prize!
My summer plans consist of gutting a few rooms in our house and redoing them, my little brother's wedding, a visit from Sarah aka The Plucky Knitter and a visit from the other Sara in my life, my sister! I would also really like to travel to Sock Summit in Portland...not sure if I can swing that or not!
love, love, love the sassy yellow color! It's perfect for knitting in the park during the summer. :)
I'm planning to sit in the leafy shade of a tree by the paddling pool while my kids are playing, knitting something small a cheerful.
Oh, what a yummy yellow:)
The yellow is so pretty and spring-like! Sadly we are moving into winter in this part of the world........
I'm actually going to get a jump on my holiday gifts - knitted socks for all! Love the beautiful yarn.
That yarn is beautiful, so bright and cheery!
Fab! My plans for spring/summer involve a little project spectrum and that color is soooo EAST! And maybe a little travel to the East too (Sweeeeeeeden)!
Cool! Thanks for the great contest! Summer plans? It depends on if I have a job or not (I'm waiting to hear from my last interview). If I have a job I get to travel home for the summer. If I don't have a job, I have to stay out my apartment lease where I am and then head home until I can get a job. Either way I hope to hit the farmer's markets, cook, spin, and knit!
Cheers!
Already have the book, but the yarn is looking delicious!!
The "zesty" yarn looks like it is bursting with flavor! Beautiful yarn as always!
My summer plans include graduate school, knitting, sewing, and a fully-funded teacher's retreat in the mountains of North Carolina. Can't wait...
Can't wait for those super summery semi-solid socks! I'm hoping to sit by the pool, drink mai tais and knit some socks with Yarntini sport weight! Hi too!
oh wow! I love that Zesty colorway!! beautiful!! and the book, oh man i need to get my hands on a copy soon!!
I love your colors, they are so vibrant and cheery! This spring my husband and I are moving from Seattle to St. Louis. I'm looking forward to our roadtrip out there and all the hours I can spend knitting while he drives. :) I've wanted to try knitting socks for some time now and I think this will be the perfect time to start!
Really like ZESTY!!! Looks like summertime to me! I'm in Sock Madness right now and finished my pair about midnight, so I have a breather for a few days. Can't get enough of those socks!!
I am going to spend the summer enjoying my time with my son before he leaves for college...and finish knitting his Henry scarf. Diane
Cookie's designs are great! How nice of you to sponser a give-a-way.
My plans for the summer? Sock knitting of course!
Our plans for summer include a trip to the mountains and a trip to Austin to see my brother. And of course work. We're hoping that my husband will also be going from a 10 month to a 12 month job which means he'll be working this summer (he works for the school system). Of course, there is lots of plans for knitting and quilting!
Love your colors,gorgeous!
Love your easter egg hunt pictures! Hope I win the sock book, as this summer I plan to attend Sock Summit in Portland if at all possible.
